A two-day industrial training workshop on sustainable jute–leather product design, led by Dr. Rambabu Muppidi, trained 40 rural women and youth across the Bhadradri region from August 1–2. Organised under the Nava CSR Initiative and Nava Women Empowerment Centre, the session aimed to equip participants from Palvancha, Kothagudem, Dammapeta, Mulakalapalli, Old Palvancha, Gangaram, and Bhadrachalam with industry-relevant design skills.

Dr. Muppidi, Assistant Professor at the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Hyderabad, offered practical training in crafting eco-conscious products like tote bags, laptop sleeves, Bluetooth cases, and lunch bags. Participants learned design techniques, digital workflows using CAD, and hands-on prototyping.

A highlight of the programme was a costing class led by Dr. Muppidi, where learners used chalkboard exercises and product examples to grasp material and labour costing. The session enabled them to estimate market-ready prices and prepare for small-scale production.

Design theory was also integrated into the workshop, with sessions on mood boards, color palettes, inspiration mapping, and portfolio presentation. Emphasis was laid on entrepreneurship, SHG involvement, and design as a career. Participants responded with enthusiasm, eager to apply their new skills toward self-employment and sustainable product innovation. This training initiative reflects Nava Group’s commitment to rural empowerment through skill-based education.
