In a major announcement signaling renewed momentum for industrial development in Andhra Pradesh’s Rayalaseema region, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declared that construction works for the long-pending Kadapa Steel Plant will begin within the next 10 days.
“The long-awaited Kadapa Steel Plant construction works will commence within the next 10 days. This project alone will generate employment for over 3,000 people,” CM Naidu told an enthusiastic gathering.
The Rs.4,500 crore project, backed by steel giant JSW Group led by industrialist Sajjan Jindal, will have a production capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Once operational, the plant is expected to transform the industrial landscape of the Rayalaseema region, long considered neglected in terms of major infrastructure and employment-generating initiatives.
CM Naidu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to balanced regional development through decentralization of industrial investments. “Our policy is clear—decentralization of development. Every region must grow, and Rayalaseema must receive its due share of industries and opportunities,” he stated.
The Chief Minister emphasized that large-scale projects such as the Kadapa Steel Plant are essential to create jobs and reverse the migration of youth from underdeveloped areas.
