KIMS Secunderabad cures ARDS affected doctor

Doctors at KIMS Hospitals Secunderabad saved the life of a woman doctor from Solapur in Maharashtra who developed severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) following Influenza pneumonia. Dr. Vishal Kumar Chitikeshi, Lead Consultant, Clinical and Interventional Pulmonology, said that the patient was admitted to a hospital in Solapur, where she was placed on mechanical ventilation.

The KIMS ECMO retrieval team travelled to Solapur and initiated ECMO support at the referring hospital. The patient was transported by road to KIMS Secunderabad while remaining on ECMO following which she received intensive treatment and mechanical ventilation for nearly a week. After 25 days, the patient fully recovery and was discharged in stable condition.
