Kondapalli fort’s history to be restored: Collector

Cultural programs will be organized every day to attract tourists

NTR District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha said that steps will be taken to develop Kondapalli Fort in coordination with the departments of culture, archaeology, museum and tourism to showcase its historical significance to future generations and attract tourists. On Thursday, District Collector, Government Principal Secretary G. Vani Mohan and other officials inspected the Kondapalli Fort to develop it. Speaking to media representatives on this occasion, the Collector said that steps have been taken to develop the Kondapalli Fort, the icon of the district, and attract more tourists.

He said that the state Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had paid special attention in the past to keep the history of the highly prestigious fort alive. He said that the Kondapalli festival was organized on a large scale in the year 2019. He said that the history of the Kondapalli Fort was kept alive by repairing it and making it accessible to visitors. He said that it is commendable that the photo in the exhibition set up in the fort can be scanned on an Android phone through an app and the uniqueness of the picture can be known.

He said that the state government has given top priority to the tourism sector in the vision document of Swarnandhra 2047. He said that steps will be taken to develop the infrastructure at Kondapalli Port. He said that cultural programs will be organized every day to attract tourists. He said that more publicity will be given to the Kondapalli area and the fort and that tourists from other states as well as from within the state will definitely visit Kondapalli. He said that along with the funds released by the government, special steps are being taken by the district administration for the development of Kondapalli fort. 

Principal Secretary to the Government G. Vani Mohan said that from about the 10th century until independence, many kings ruled from Kondapalli Fort. She said that when the very historic Kondapalli Fort was almost in ruins, funds were allocated for the development of Kondapalli Fort in 2019. Kondapalli Fort was developed with modern technology. She said that it has been brought to the notice of the district collector to provide repairs and infrastructure through CSR funds with the help of the district administration.

Vani Mohan said that they are planning to organize programs at Kondapalli Fort on special days to attract tourists and create awareness among the people to organize auspicious activities in a natural environment without spending a lot of money on decorations and decorations, thereby making Kondapalli Fort more popular. 

Along with the District Collector, Tourism Department Regional Joint Director Y.V. Prasannalakshmi, District Tourism Officer A. Shilpa, Assistant Tourism Officer D. Gopal, Archaeology Department Deputy Director O. Rama Subbareddy, P. Suresh, Assistant Directors Swaminayak, Narasimha Naidu, S. Venkat Rao, D.V. Chaitanya, local Tahsildar Venkateswarlu and others participated in the Kondapalli Fort inspection program.
