BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for condemning the Bharat Rashtra Samithi's (BRS) support of the Supreme Court's interim order on the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. In a statement on September 16, KTR accused BJP supporters of showing a lack of respect for both the Indian Constitution and the Supreme Court. He emphasized that such criticism underscores the BJP's disregard for constitutional principles.

KTR further questioned the BJP's commitment to nationalism, contrasting what he termed the BJP's "fake nationalism" with the BRS's genuine patriotism. He defined true nationalism as embracing every Indian equally, without regard to caste, creed, or religion, and warned against confusing genuine patriotism with hollow jingoism.

Recalling the Pahalgam massacre, where 26 innocent lives were lost due to a Pakistan-sponsored terror attack,

KTR criticized the BJP government for allowing cricket matches with Pakistan shortly after the incident. He pointed out that despite strong opposition from the victims' families, the Modi government proceeded with the matches, highlighting what he described as the BJP's hypocritical patriotism.

The Supreme Court's interim order has sparked political controversy, with various leaders expressing differing opinions. While KTR welcomed the decision, calling it a relief against divisive politics, BJP leaders like Kiren Rijiju defended the government's stance, stating that the ruling validated the government's reforms. Opposition leaders, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and actor-politician Vijay, lauded the court's decision as a victory for constitutional rights and minority protections. The debate continues as stakeholders from various political and social backgrounds weigh in on the implications of the Waqf Amendment Act and the Supreme Court's interim order.
