BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao strongly condemned what he described as “undemocratic and anarchic methods” allegedly adopted by the ruling Congress party during the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson elections in various municipalities across Telangana.

KTR accused the Congress of resorting to kidnappings, attacks, intimidation, and the misuse of ex-officio votes to capture posts of authority. He alleged that elected representatives were targeted and obstructed in several towns, including Torrur, Jangaon, Kyathanpalli, and Kagaznagar, and said the incidents reflected a serious deterioration of law and order in the State.

He criticized what he termed the misuse of police machinery, alleging that officers acted under political pressure and failed to prevent attacks on BRS leaders, former ministers, MLAs, and party workers. KTR demanded that the Director General of Police initiate immediate action against officials who allegedly acted in favour of the ruling party.

The BRS leader further objected to the alleged enrollment of “bogus ex-officio votes” to influence the outcome of chairperson elections, calling it a “blot on democracy.” He also urged the State Election Commission to take serious note of instances where elections were postponed under pressure and to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged irregularities.

Warning against what he termed “goondaism under the guise of power,”

KTR asserted that the people of Telangana would deliver a fitting response to such actions in the days ahead.

Harish Rao alleges Congress–BJP Nexus

Former Minister and BRS Legislature Party Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao alleged that the municipal results have exposed an opportunistic alliance between the Congress and the BJP in Telangana.

He claimed that despite accusing each other for years, both parties have now joined hands to prevent the BRS from gaining control of municipal bodies. Citing examples from towns such as Aliyabad, Amangal, Medak, and Narsapur, Harish Rao alleged that the two national parties have compromised their ideologies for political convenience.

He further stated that while Congress leaders criticize the BJP at the national level, the party in Telangana is aligning with it locally to secure power, calling it a betrayal of public trust and democratic values.
