A man who had come to AIG Hospital in Gachibowli for a liver transplant died, allegedly due to medical negligence, prompting his family and relatives to stage a protest outside the hospital on Sunday. The incident created a tense situation in the area. Raidurgam police arrived at the scene to monitor the situation.

The deceased, 40-year-old Muralidhar from Gandhinagar, Kutbullapur, had been suffering from a liver disease and was admitted to AIG Hospital around 45 days ago for a liver transplant. His family alleged that hospital staff had registered him as a 60-year-old patient despite his actual age being 40. They also claimed that no liver donors had come forward to help until his wife agreed to donate her liver for the operation.

The transplant operation was conducted on Saturday after the family paid Rs. 14 lakh. Following the operation, hospital staff reportedly informed the family that they could take Muralidhar’s body. This disclosure after the payment angered his relatives. The family stated that they had already paid a total of Rs. 85 lakh over the past 45 days for the procedure, even selling one of their houses to arrange the funds.

Demanding justice, Muralidhar’s family expressed their grievances outside the hospital. Police intervened to pacify the family and subsequently transferred the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered, and an investigation into the incident has begun.
