Stray dog attacks in Malkajgiri are on the decline following a surge in government-led sterilization and vaccination drives. Recent data reflects a significant milestone: zero reported injuries since February. Officials attribute the improvement to strengthened field operations and enhanced response systems under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme.

Operational Expansion Sanchit, Zonal Commissioner of the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation, noted that vaccination coverage has expanded and the fleet of dog-catching vehicles has increased, ensuring faster responses to public grievances.

"We currently have one sterilization center in operation and are in the process of setting up two additional centers to manage the increasing workload," Sanchit stated.

While capacity constraints remain a challenge, municipal data indicates that approximately 2,000 sterilization procedures have already been completed. To keep pace with demand, field staff have been working extended shifts—sometimes up to 48 hours during peak periods—to manage captures and complaints.

Community Safety and Cooperation Authorities are conducting awareness campaigns to educate residents on safe interactions with stray animals. Officials have specifically urged families to supervise children in vulnerable areas and avoid leaving them unattended in open spaces.
