Mancherial tops state in govt school enrolment

The increasing enrolment reflects parents' growing confidence in government schools. Improved infrastructure, digital learning facilities and the appointment of computer instructors in 82 schools have strengthened education. Parents should make use of the free, quality education available.

Mancherial district has secured the top position in Telangana in achieving the State government's target of increasing enrolment in government schools by 10 percent for the 2026-27 academic year. The district has also recorded a major shift from private to government schools, with 3,352 students taking admission in government institutions.

According to U-DISE online portal data released by the district administration and District Educational Officer P. Chandrayya, Mancherial achieved 95.72 percent of its enrolment target, the highest in the State. The district had 43,072 students in government schools during the previous academic year, while the enrolment target for 2026-27 was fixed at 47,379. Despite students moving to intermediate colleges, Gurukul institutions and other streams after Class X, government schools currently have an enrolment of 45,350 students, an increase of 2,278 over last year. Rajanna Sircilla and Jagtial districts ranked second and third, respectively.

The achievement has been attributed to the district administration's sustained focus on education. Collector Kumar Deepak has been regularly visiting government schools during official tours, interacting with students, assessing their learning abilities and guiding teachers. Officials said the continuous monitoring contributed to improved academic standards, with government institutions securing State-level ranks in the SSC and Intermediate examinations last year.

The Collector, along with the District Educational Officer and District Intermediate Education Officer, has continued special monitoring of the education sector this year. As a result, 275 government schools in the district recorded more than 10 percent additional enrolment compared to the previous academic year. Mandamarri and Jaipur mandals achieved 100 percent of their enrolment targets, followed by Hajipur (99.91%), Naspur (99.76%), Bhimaram (98.24%) and Nennel (98%). Overall, 10 of the district's 18 mandals achieved between 96 and 100 percent of their targets.

The district also witnessed a significant increase in students shifting from private schools. As per U-DISE data as of July 23, a total of 3,352 students joined 205 government schools across all 18 mandals. Mancherial recorded the highest number with 514 admissions, followed by Jannaram (391), Mandamarri (371), Bellampalli (305), Naspur (253), Luxettipet (243), Chennur (189), Dandepalli (154), Tandur (153), Hajipur (144), Bhimaram (135), Kasipet (126), Jaipur (89), Kannepalli (87), Bhimini (57), Nennel (51), Kotapalli (49) and Vemanpalli (41).
