West Godavari District In-charge and State Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar called upon the youth on Sunday to give top priority to their health and fitness, stating that a healthy youth is the foundation of a strong nation. He said that regular exercise, daily walking and active participation in marathons and fitness activities play a vital role in maintaining both physical and mental well-being.
The Minister was speaking at the “Tanuku Road Run” organised near Chitturi Indraiah Government Degree College in Tanuku in association with the Tanuku Runners Society and under the guidance of the local MLA. He participated as the chief guest in the 10K, 5K and 3K run events and expressed happiness at the grand scale of the programme. He said the event was organised as part of the Fit India Movement envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Recalling the Yogandhra initiative, the Minister stated that the government had organized a massive yoga programme with five lakh participants in Visakhapatnam, earning national and international recognition. He urged citizens to become partners in achieving the vision of a “Healthy Andhra Pradesh” and stressed the importance of cleanliness, stating that clean homes, villages and towns are the foundation of a healthy society.
District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani expressed happiness over the large participation of youth in the Tanuku Road Run and urged everyone to make health a daily priority and to dedicate time every day towards fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
Tanuku MLA Arimilli Radhakrishna said that the road run was organised in 3K, 5K and 10K categories under the aegis of the Tanuku Runners Society. In the 3K run segment, District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani, District Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayem Asmi, MLA Arimilli Radhakrishna, APIIC Chairman Manthena Ramaraju and officials of various departments actively participated in the programme.
