Telangana Tourism & Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Sunday highlighted the state’s rich Buddhist heritage while interacting with ambassadors, high commissioners, and senior diplomats from several Asian, Buddhist, and other nations at the Trident Hotel, Hyderabad. The meeting focused on Telangana’s efforts to revive its ancient Buddhist legacy and promote global cultural and tourism collaborations.

Minister Rao emphasized Telangana’s historic significance as the cradle of Mahayana Buddhism in South India. He briefed the delegates on prominent heritage sites including Nagarjunakonda, Phanigiri, Dhulikatta, Nelakondapalli, and Kotilingala, underscoring their potential as major tourist attractions. A key highlight of the discussion was the Buddhavanam Buddhist Heritage Theme Park at Nagarjunasagar, designed to be a world-class spiritual and cultural destination that blends heritage preservation with modern tourism infrastructure.

The Minister also formally invited the dignitaries to the “Telangana Rising – 2047 Global Summit,” scheduled for December 8–9 at Bharat Future City, Hyderabad. The summit aims to showcase Telangana’s long-term development roadmap, investment opportunities, and cultural identity to the global community. The diplomats appreciated Telangana’s commitment to reviving its Buddhist heritage and expressed keen interest in exploring partnerships in tourism, cultural initiatives, and investment projects.

Notable dignitaries present included H.E. Muzaffar Shah Bin Mustafa (Malaysia), H.E. Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma (Nepal), H.E. Maj. Gen. Vetsop Namgyel (Bhutan), H.E. Chavanart Thangsumphant (Thailand), H.E. Mahishini Colonne (Sri Lanka), and several representatives from Canada, Singapore, Russia, and India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
