National Handloom Ikat Silk Brand Ambassador and Miss Asia International Rashmi Thakur stated that handloom weaving is a symbol of India's rich cultural heritage and emphasized the need to promote traditional Indian handlooms on the global stage. On Wednesday, she inaugurated the ‘Indian Silk Gallery Handloom Exhibition’ at Satya Sai Nigamagamam, Srinagar Colony. Rashmi Thakur said that Ikat Silk received an overwhelming response on the red carpet at the recently concluded Cannes International Festival, highlighting its growing global recognition.
She appreciated the initiative of organizing the exhibition to encourge handloom weavers and creating a direct platform for artisans to connect with consumers. She urged everyone to support the handloom sector by wearing and purchasing authentic handloom products, thereby contributing to India's traditional textile heritage. The organizers Srinivasa Rao and Vinay Kumar said that around 80 stalls have been set up by handloom artisans from various cities, showcasing a wide range of silk, cotton, and designer handloom fabrics. The exhibition will remain open until July 22.
