Kausalyam 2026, a major exhibition celebrating India's rich handmade and textile heritage, was inaugurated at Anvaya Convention in Hyderabad's Financial District. Organised by the Crafts Council of Telangana (CCT), the exhibition is open to the public from July 16 to 20 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., with free entry.

Held once every five years in collaboration with textile revivalist Gaurang Shah, the exhibition brings together artisans, textile studios and craft entrepreneurs from across the country. The inaugural event was attended by Geetha Reddy, Nara Bhuvaneshwari and Surekha Konidela, among other guests.

More than 75 textile studios and craft exhibitors are participating, with over 120 stalls showcasing handwoven textiles, handicrafts and artisan products from different parts of India. Visitors can explore curated craft collections, a Museum of Textiles highlighting India's weaving and textile traditions, and interactive sessions with artisans and designers.

The exhibition also features cultural presentations, including Sita Anveshana, a Telugu-English leather puppetry performance, and Virata Parvam, a Cheriyal Scroll storytelling presentation enhanced with augmented reality.

The Crafts Council of Telangana, established in 1987, has been working to preserve and promote traditional crafts through exhibitions and artisan development programmes. Organisers said the proceeds from Kausalyam 2026 will be used to revive the endangered Bharoon Embroidery Cluster, a traditional Sindhi embroidery craft sustained largely by women artisans. The initiative aims to preserve the centuries-old craft while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for artisan families and supporting other craft development programmes across the country.
