Missing compound wall in govt school raises questions on safety

Parents have expressed serious concern over the lack of a compound wall at the Telangana Model School in Singareni mandal headquarters of Khammam district, saying it has compromised the safety and security of students, particularly girls. According to parents and local residents, the absence of a boundary wall allows outsiders, as well as stray pigs and sheep, to enter the school premises freely. They said the situation has created an unsafe environment for students, with many girls reportedly feeling insecure while attending classes.

Residents alleged that despite repeatedly bringing the issue to the attention of the authorities, no steps have been taken to construct a compound wall. They urged the government to immediately build a strong boundary wall to ensure the safety of students and prevent unauthorized access to the campus. Locals also alleged that the lack of a compound wall has encouraged anti-social elements to loiter inside the school campus. 

They claimed that during lunch breaks and other school activities, some youths enter the premises and behave inappropriately, causing discomfort among girl students. Students, parents and local residents have appealed to the authorities to construct a compound wall without delay and increase police patrolling around the school.
