Hyderabad: Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi on Wednesday refuted the land allegations made against him by BRS leaders saying that they were “politically motivated.” He clarified that the land in Gajularamaram Survey No. 307 (Part) does not belong to the government and it is a private patta land legally purchased by his family. MLA Gandhi said the land has been recorded as patta land in revenue records since 1991. He also informed that in 2006, before his political career began, he had bought 11 acres of land legally along with his family members.
He recalled that in 2008, the AP State Financial Corporation had clearly stated in its counter affidavit that the land was not theirs and had no intention of acquiring it and added that the deputy collector and tehsildar have also confirmed the same. Further, he stated that the judgment of the High Court also made it clear that these lands are not Inam lands. However, Gandhi said it was "completely illegal" for the HYDRAA authorities to enter the land and demolish the fencing on Sunday itself without giving any notice.
He said that he approached the High Court against the move and that the entry of HYDRAA has been stopped for now. He also alleged that showing private land as government land was a big conspiracy and lies were being spread without verifying the facts to mislead the people. "If anyone makes false allegations that tarnish my image, strict legal action will be taken against them," MLA Gandhi warned.
