Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Kota Neelima, Vice President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and Congress In-charge of the Sanathnagar Assembly Constituency, visited the historic Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple on Saturday. The couple offered special prayers to Goddess Mahankali, seeking divine blessings. They were accorded a traditional ceremonial welcome by Endowments Commissioner Hanumantha Rao, Executive Officer Manohar Reddy and the temple priests who received them with Vedic chants and temple honours.
Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera said that Bonalu is one of Telangana's most revered and historically significant festivals and expressed happiness at having the opportunity to seek the blessings of Goddess Ujjaini Mahankali during the auspicious festivities. Dr. Kota Neelima described the Secunderabad Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu as a glorious celebration that embodies Telangana's rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions.
She further noted that the Congress Government has accorded Bonalu the status of a State Festival and is organising the celebrations on a grand scale. The Government has allocated Rs 20 crore for the conduct of the festivities and has put in place comprehensive arrangements through the coordinated efforts of all departments. She expressed hope that the blessings of Goddess Mahankali would continue to protect and shower prosperity upon the people of Telangana. Local Congress leaders and party workers were also present on the occasion.
