Naidu orders speed-up of Amaravati projects

Metro India News | AMARAVATI : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said the construction agencies executing greenfield capital city Amaravati projects should to carry out works worth Rs 2,000 crore every month. During a review meeting on the ambitious capital city works, Naidu directed that all capital works be completed rapidly with high quality, leaving no scope for negligence or laxity, an official press release said late on Tuesday.

"He (Naidu) said construction agencies should work with a clear plan to ensure that works worth Rs 2,000 crore are executed every month in the capital city of Amaravati," it said. Naidu noted that there should be no delay in the construction of iconic buildings, observing that the Secretariat towers and the assembly building should have an iconic character, reflecting the stature of Amaravati as the state capital.

Further, the CM directed officials to expedite the construction of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project, alongside the greenfield capital city. Meanwhile, Municipal Minister P Narayana apprised the CM that 41,000 workers were currently engaged in 152 projects being taken up in the capital region. Officials briefed the chief minister on the progress and status of various projects, adding that works worth Rs 1,345 crore had been completed during September, the press release added.

Moreover, Naidu stressed the need to provide modern skills to personnel in the construction sector, on the lines of the National Academy of Construction to meet the requirements of large-scale capital development, the press release added.
