Washington: Nasa astronauts Anil Menon and Jessica Meir completed a six-hour, 27-minute spacewalk outside the International Space Station to prepare its power system for additional solar arrays.
The astronauts installed mounting hardware on the station’s 3B power channel and routed cabling for future International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays (IROSA), Nasa said.
The mission marked Menon’s first spacewalk and Meir’s sixth. Nasa said the new arrays would provide additional power for critical systems and support the space station’s eventual controlled deorbit. It was the first of three spacewalks planned for the Expedition 75 crew this month.
