Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on Monday that the NDA will win the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu and made it clear that he would campaign if needed. The Jana Sena chief participated in the One Nation- One Election Workshop organised by the Tamil Nadu State BJP unit in Chennai.
The meeting was attended by former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, BJP Tamil Nadu president Nayanar Nagendran, One Nation One Election national convener Anil Anthony, BJP Tamil Nadu leaders Arjuna Murthy and Chakravarthy among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK supremo MK Stalin to reconsider his opposition to the proposed simultaneous elections. He recalled that Stalin’s father and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi had also supported the “One Nation One Election” idea and had even written in favor of it. He opined that as elections are always held somewhere in the country it affects money, time and development . Whenever there is an election, the officials and leaders are focusing on it, he said.
The AP Deputy Chief Minister wished film actor Vijay the best for launching a new party and said that films and politics are different. Pawan Kalyan also dismissed the idea that regional parties would get affected by simultaneous elections to Assembly and Lok Sabha and gave the example of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odissa elections in the past where regional parties had won though simultaneous polls were held.
He criticized saying that the YSRCP does not have a policy on EVMs and reminded that in 2019, YSRCP won when the same EVMs were used. He said that this country is the land of Sanatan Dharma and recalled that there is no village in our country where there is no Ram temple.
