New Chief Secretary appointed for Andhra Pradesh, Ministers hail appointing BC as CS

K Vijayanand said, the CM showed his recognition for BCs by appointing them to the position of DGP as well as party state unit president

Andhra Pradesh government appointed 1992 batch IAS officer K Vijayanand as its new Chief Secretary(CS)  on Sunday. He is presently working as Special Chief Secretary in Energy Department. He is to replace the present Chief Secretary Neerab Kumar Prasad who is to retire on December 31st.

The appointment of K Vijayanand who belongs to Backward Classes(BC) community was hailed by BC Cabinet Ministers.

Kolusu Partha Sarathi, Minister for Housing, Information and Public Relations said that the appointment of K Vijayanand in a very key position in the state administration is a testament to the government’s commitment for the empowerment of the BC sections.

He said that CM Chandrababu Naidu has once again proven that he is the only leader who recognizes the weaker sections as a strong section.

He said that the CM showed his recognition for BCs by appointing them to the position of DGP as well as party state unit president. He said that he sincerely hoped that as the Chief Secretary of the state government, he will be able to implement the goals of the government.

BC, EWS Welfare, Handloom and Textile Minister S. Savita thanked CM Chandrababu for entrusting crucial responsibilities to a BC IAS officer.

She said that since the inception of TDP, the party  has been giving a big role to BCs . She said that she is proud that for the first time in the history of AP, a BC officer has been appointed as a Chief Secretary.

Minister Savita said that under Chandrababu's leadership, BC leaders and officials have always been highly respected. She said that eight BCs have been given opportunities as ministers in the state cabinet.

Another senior BC leader Chintakalaya Ayyanna Patra has been appointed as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly,Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu has been given an opportunity as a Union Minister, leader Palla Srinivas has as the President of the Telugu Desam State Party. She mentioned that it is a matter of pride that along with the CS, DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and TTD Executive Oficer  Shyamala Rao are also BCs.

Revenue Minister Angani Satya Prasad congratulated Vijayanand on being appointed as the Chief Secretary.

The minister said that Chandrababu Naidu has once again proven his sincerity towards the weaker sections by entrusting Vijayanand, who comes from the BC community, with a key position in the state administration

He reiterated that it has been proven once again that the NDA  government is the representative of the BC and SC communities in the state.

The minister said that he wished for Vijayanand to work successfully as CS in leading the state forward on the path of progress under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
