In a significant move to empower rural women and boost their economic independence, the Society for Employment Generation and Enterprise Development (SEED) and the Backward Classes Welfare Department have jointly launched a new skill development program.
This initiative aims to train 10,000 rural women in garment manufacturing, providing them with the necessary skills to start their own ventures or find employment.
The program, which will commence in January, will offer 45 days of free training in garment manufacturing. Upon completion, the trained women will be provided with high-quality Juki sewing machines to kickstart their businesses.
To ensure a sustainable livelihood, Centurion University will collaborate with industries to connect these skilled women with potential employment opportunities. The women will be offered piece-work based employment, providing them with a steady income.
Speaking on the occasion, BC Welfare Minister Savita expressed her optimism about the program's potential to transform the lives of rural women. “This initiative is a step towards empowering women and making them financially independent,” she said.
The program has been designed to provide comprehensive support to the participants, including training, equipment, and market linkages. By equipping women with the necessary skills and resources, the government aims to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship and create a sustainable livelihood for rural communities.
