“Be it becoming an MLA, MP, or Chief Minister — no one can achieve it without the blessings and support of farmers,” declared Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the ‘Rythu Nestham’ programme held at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University on Monday evening. Reiterating his government’s commitment to farmers' welfare, the CM said farmers are the backbone of democracy and the state’s growth depends on their well-being.

Revanth Reddy was the Chief Guest at the event, which was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, several ministers, Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, government advisors, senior officials, and farmers. Thousands of farmers across all districts also joined the programme through video conferencing from Rythu Vedikas.

As part of the programme, the Chief Minister launched video conferencing facilities at 1,034 Rythu Vedikas, taking the total number of online connected Vedikas to 1,600. This upgrade is aimed at strengthening outreach and communication with the farming community in real time.

The Chief Minister also formally released Rs 9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, transferring funds directly to farmers’ bank accounts. He reiterated his promise to ensure that Rs 9,000 crore will be disbursed within just nine days, reflecting the government's swift and transparent governance model.

Revanth took sharp digs at the previous regime, accusing them of pushing the state into a debt crisis, neglecting fee reimbursement and farm loan waivers, and misleading the public with empty optics. He said his government, in contrast, has already spent Rs 1 lakh crore on farmers in just 18 months, making it a true ‘Praja Palana’ (people's government).

He highlighted Telangana’s achievement as the number one state in paddy production, and credited farmers for enabling the government to provide fine rice to the poor. The CM said a Rs 500 bonus was announced to encourage cultivation of fine rice, which now accounts for 60% of paddy grown in the state.

Further, the CM directed the Chief Secretary to raise awareness among farmers on solar pump sets, crop diversification, and commercial crops, emphasizing that sustainable farming practices will be a key part of the government’s strategy. He said farmers must now transition from subsistence farming to profitable agriculture, with the full backing of the state.

CM assured that no matter how many protests are staged or how many allegations are made, the people’s government will remain in power for the next 10 years, committed to restoring dignity and prosperity to the farming community.
