NTR remembered on 103rd birth anniversary

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday paid tributes to Telugu Desam Party founder N T Rama Rao on his 103rd birth anniversary. The chief minister said that Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR, stood as a living example of the saying that with perseverance, human beings can become sages and great personalities.

“I pay tributes to the revered leader of Telugu people, the globally acclaimed legend and great personality, N T Rama Rao, on his 103rd birth anniversary,” said Naidu in a post on X. He noted that NTR, born on May 28, 1923, in Nimmakuru village of Krishna district, remains an unforgettable figure etched forever in the hearts of Telugu people. Naidu highlighted that NTR left an indelible mark on the world of cinema through his iconic portrayals of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna and later emerged as a guiding star in politics.

He described the late leader as a modern social reformer who brought transformative changes to the lives of Telugu people. NTR was a legendary actor and former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh. He is widely remembered for his contributions to Telugu cinema, welfare-oriented governance and his influence on Telugu identity and politics.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also paid rich tributes to NTR on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Describing him as a towering personality who first won the hearts of audiences as a legendary actor and later emerged as a people’s leader in politics, Pawan Kalyan recalled NTR’s immense contribution as Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh.

In a message posted on social media, Pawan Kalyan said NTR’s welfare-oriented governance continued to inspire future generations. He particularly recalled the iconic Rs 2 per kilogram rice scheme introduced by NTR to support poor families and said the present coalition government was carrying forward the same spirit through the Anna Canteens programme aimed at providing affordable food to the poor. “His ideals of standing by the poor continue to guide us,” Pawan Kalyan said while paying homage to the late leader.

State Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh also remembered NTR as a visionary leader who brought global recognition to Telugu people and stood firmly with the underprivileged sections of society. “The great man who brought pride to the Telugu race and became a symbol of welfare continues to inspire millions. Grandfather, you remain our eternal inspiration,” Lokesh said in an emotional message posted online.

NTR’s daughter Nara Bhuvaneswari also paid tribute to her father, recalling his unwavering commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people. “For three generations, we have witnessed the same respect and admiration for NTR. It was his dedication to practising what he preached that made him ‘Annagaru’ in the hearts of Telugu people,” she stated. Family members, party leaders and admirers across the Telugu states remembered NTR’s contributions to cinema, public welfare and Telugu pride on the occasion of his 103rd birth anniversary.
