Chaos erupted on Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) on Sunday, October 5, when a chain collision involving multiple vehicles near Exit Number 17 brought traffic to a standstill. The accident, under the Rajendranagar Traffic Police jurisdiction, involved vehicles travelling from the Rajendranagar Toll Gate towards the Telangana State Police Academy.
Fortunately, all passengers escaped serious injury as airbags deployed upon impact. The vehicles sustained minor damage, but the crash caused heavy congestion along the busy stretch. Traffic police promptly rushed to the scene, clearing the vehicles and gradually restoring normal traffic flow.
The Cyberabad Traffic Police shared a video of the incident on X (formerly Twitter), alerting commuters about the congestion and advising motorists to drive cautiously, maintain safe distances, and stay vigilant while navigating the ORR.
This is not the first accident on the ORR in recent weeks. The stretch has witnessed multiple mishaps, including a tragic crash near Peddamberpet on September 15 that killed a young woman and injured seven others. Another accident near Thondapalli on September 29 claimed the life of an IT professional and left two passengers injured.
These repeated incidents highlight the urgent need for stricter traffic enforcement, better signage, and increased public awareness to prevent further mishaps on Hyderabad’s heavily trafficked Outer Ring Road. Commuters are advised to remain alert and cautious while driving along this stretch to avoid accidents.
