AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday condemned Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir’s nuclear threat against India, made from US soil, calling it unacceptable and demanding a strong political response from the Modi government. The Hyderabad MP said such misuse of American territory by a hostile military figure should not be ignored, especially by a strategic partner like India.

Posting on X, Owaisi stated: “Pakistan Army Chief's threats & language against India are condemnable. That he did this from US soil makes it worse. It deserves a political response from the Modi government & not just the MEA statement.” He also urged the Centre to modernise India’s armed forces, criticising the low defence budget as inadequate given Pakistan’s military posturing.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in its response on Monday, called Munir’s remarks “nuclear sabre-rattling,” a routine tactic by Pakistan. It emphasised that India would not yield to nuclear blackmail and would continue taking all steps necessary to safeguard national security.

The MEA also criticised the fact that such statements were made from a “friendly third country,” indirectly referencing the United States, and reinforcing concerns about Pakistan’s military-terror nexus and nuclear command integrity.
