Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has assured that every farmer affected by Cyclone Montha will receive full support from the Andhra Pradesh government. He announced that crop loss assessments and compensation disbursement are being carried out on a war footing.
During his visit to cyclone-hit areas in Avanigadda constituency of Krishna district, Pawan Kalyan interacted with farmers and reviewed the extensive crop damage caused by the cyclone. Addressing the media later, he stated that 1.38 lakh hectares of farmland were affected across the state, of which 46,000 hectares were in Krishna district alone. Nearly 56,000 farmers in the district have suffered losses, according to preliminary estimates.
“The government’s proactive preparedness helped minimize the impact of Montha. Under the leadership and foresight of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, we implemented a detailed disaster management plan that significantly reduced the damage,” Pawan Kalyan said.
He explained that 1.16 lakh people were safely evacuated to rehabilitation centres ahead of the storm. “Even tenant farmers who suffered losses will be supported. I will bring their concerns to the notice of the Chief Minister,” he assured.
The Deputy CM also revealed that post-cyclone recovery operations have been launched immediately. Around 274 km of roads under the Panchayat Raj Department were damaged and are now being repaired on a priority basis. To prevent the spread of infectious diseases, the government has initiated super sanitation and super chlorination drives across affected villages. Nearly 21,000 sanitation personnel have been deployed in 1,583 severely impacted villages to restore hygiene and ensure clean drinking water.
Relief measures include 25 kg rice for each family in rehabilitation camps, while fishermen and handloom workers who lost livelihoods will receive 50 kg rice. Each affected individual is being given ₹1,000 before returning home, with a maximum of ₹3,000 per family. The government will also seek central assistance once preliminary loss reports are finalized.
