The Andhra Pradesh State Information Technology, Electronics and Communication(ITE&C) Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar said on Thursday that 25 per cent of the electronic components manufacturing units will be set up in the state in the southern Rayalaseema region.

He was participating in a one-day workshop organised jointly by ITE&C, AP Economic Development Board and India Cellular and Electronics Association at a private hotel in Tirupati  as part of the promotion of investments under Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) and Andhra Pradesh State Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy.

Andhra Pradesh government unveiled its draft Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 4.0 (ECMP 4.0) in a roadshow organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) here on Thursday. The roadshow roped in leading industry stakeholders to deliberate on India's component manufacturing opportunities under the recently launched Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).

Union IT and Electronics joint secretary Sushil Pal and Andhra Pradesh IT secretary K Bhaskar attended the roadshow. Aimed at attracting investments to the southern state, ECMP 4.0 offers an array of incentives such as early bird incentives, matching incentives, interim incentives, plug and play facilities with specialised component manufacturing clusters and others.

Meanwhile, Dixon Technologies announced its commitment to generate 5,000 additional jobs in Andhra Pradesh within the next two years as part of its expansion plans in the state. Likewise, Neolync, backed by Reliance, also promised to generate 5,000 jobs in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Katamneni Bhaskar said that the policy is being formulated in such a way that subsidies or facilities from the Andhra Pradesh government are better than those by the central government with regard to manufacturing of electronic components. He stated that the policy will encourage locally manufactured industrialists to replace electronic components that have so far been imported from other countries.

"The Andhra Pradesh government is an investor-friendly government and we are not only implementing ease of doing business but also speed of doing business. There are many higher education universities in the state. Adequate number of skilled persons are available and the government is undertaking a program to provide adequate professionalism to the needs of the industry,” he said. Rajesh Sharma, Principal Advisor and Executive Director, India Cellular and Electronics Association, Rashmi Rathi Tiwari, Scientist and representatives of various industries participated in the workshop.
