Police bust interstate horse betting racket, Rs 2 lakh seized

In a Joint operation, the sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT), Malkajgiri along with Jawahar Nagar Law and Order Police, have busted interstate horse betting racket and arrested four persons.

Arrested men identified as Thokala Nagesh (45), Borra Venkaiah Chowdhary (45), Challa Ramesh Babu (48) and D Sunil (55) who are indulging in illegal horse betting gaming. Police seized net cash Rs 2 lakh, Mobile Phone from accused and freezed amount of Rs 2,47,000 in Axis Bank and IndusInd Bank.

The accused person Nagesh, is a native of old Guntur, initially worked for Hewlett Packard Company at Chennai and while he was staying in Chennai, he got attracted to Horse Betting and later got addicted. In the year 2020, he shifted to Hyderabad and started organizing Horse Betting by staying in various rented houses in Hyderabad.

In the year 2024 he shifted to Tirumala Enclave, Dammaiguda and started organizing a gaming house of horse betting by creating a WhatsApp group with the name of ‘Shinewell Enterprises’ and added 105 members from all over the country including 20 members of twin cities.

The accused ran illegal horse betting by luring the innocent victims to invest and promised to pay high returns to the members. A total Rs 8,34,50,749 of transactions were found in the bank accounts of the accused pertaining to this illegal horse betting.
