The Balanagar SOT and Bachupally Police cracked the murder case of a woman whose body was found in a trolley bag in Bachupally area on Wednesday. Accused identified as Vijay Toppa (30), from Bowrampet, Bachupally. He was brought to the Bachupally PS and, upon interrogation, confessed to the crime.
Police said that accused Vijay Toppa and victim Tara Behara (33), both from Nepal, had been in a relationship for some time. Tara, who was previously married and had two children, had fallen in love with Vijay and he had brought her from Nepal to Hyderabad in April 2025.
The couple initially rented a house in a slum colony in the Jubilee Hills and started living together. However, Vijay, who is working as a cook at a Chinese fast food centre, shifted his residence to Indiramma Colony in Bowrampet, a suburb of the city due to the employment opportunities. During this time, Tara Behara became pregnant.
Upon learning about the pregnancy, Vijay wanted her to undergo abortion while Tara allegedly insisted on keeping it. On May 23, the couple had a heated argument over the matter. As things escalated, an enraged Vijay strangled Tara and killed her. Later, he bought a trolley bag and packed body in it and dumped it at a secluded spot.
