Solar Giant’s management debunks shift rumours
Metro India News | Hyderabad
Premier Energies, a leading integrated Solar Cell and Module manufacturing company headquartered in Hyderabad, has reiterated its strong commitment to Telangana while announcing strategic expansions across multiple states like Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Chiranjeev Saluja, Managing Director of Premier Energies Limited, emphasized that the company remains deeply invested in Telangana, with its workforce exceeding 5,000 employees in the state already. He clarified that recent reports speculating a shift from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh were misleading. Instead, the company is diversifying geographically to better serve customers nationwide.
As part of this strategy, Premier Energies is relocating its 4 GW Solar Cell line from Seetharampur Industrial Park in Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh, primarily due to logistical advantages such as proximity to port for importing essential raw materials used in making Cells, the MD said. This is part of a previously announced Rs 3,000 crore investment plan, with approximately Rs 1,500 crore being redirected to Andhra Pradesh. The Telangana government was kept informed of these developments throughout the process, he added.
“Simultaneously, Premier Energies is expanding in Telangana with a new 1 GW Solar Cell Line, 1 GW Solar Module Line, and a Solar Aluminum Frames Extrusion unit, representing an investment of Rs 1,030 crore. This project, currently in an advanced stage of construction, is expected to be commissioned in first quarter of 2025-26 and will create an additional 1,500 jobs in the state.
In recognition of the company’s contribution to the renewable energy sector, the Telangana government has allocated an additional 125 acres of land in Seetharampur, supplementing the previously granted 75 acres. The company has also applied for an additional 25 acres for future expansion,” Chiranjeev Saluja said. To accelerate the 1 GW each Solar Cell and Module project, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) has leased a pre-constructed facility in Maheshwaram Industrial Park to Premier Energies.
