Reservoirs in dead storage, Govt. in cold storage: KTR

BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of pushing Telangana into an agricultural crisis through poor planning and administrative failure. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan after welcoming Banswada businessman Moril Srinivas into the BRS, KTR alleged that the government had failed to respond despite advance warnings about drought like conditions.

KTR remarked that while reservoirs had slipped into dead storage, the government was "in cold storage," accusing it of failing to provide timely irrigation water. He questioned why the government was not lifting water through the Kaleshwaram project even as river water was flowing into the sea, alleging that farmers were being denied irrigation despite available resources.

The former minister also accused the Congress government of betraying its election promises, claiming that none of its six guarantees had been fully implemented. He alleged that farmers continued to face shortages of urea, irrigation water, power and procurement support, while the agricultural sector had slipped into a severe crisis during the Congress government's two years in office.

Targeting the government on employment, KTR challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to substantiate claims that 70,000 jobs had been provided. Reiterating his earlier challenge, he said he was prepared to resign as an MLA if the government could prove the claim, asserting that the Chief Minister lacked the courage to accept the challenge.

KTR also criticised the government's handling of the Kaleshwaram project, alleging that it was using damage to two pillars at Medigadda Barrage as an excuse to undermine the entire irrigation system instead of restoring it. He further accused the government of allowing valuable water to go waste while farmers in North Telangana struggled for irrigation.

During the programme, KTR welcomed Moril Srinivas into the BRS.
