Polls in 2029, Not 2028
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday outlined his views on the State’s electoral timeline, asserting that Assembly elections in Telangana will not be held in 2028 as speculated. He expressed confidence that the polls will instead take place in 2029 as part of simultaneous elections under the One Nation One Poll framework, stating that such a synchronized process would enhance administrative efficiency and governance stability.
On social policy, the Chief Minister welcomed the prospect of early implementation of women’s reservation in legislative bodies, describing it as a progressive step toward strengthening inclusive governance and empowering women politically.
Speaking during an informal interaction with media in New Delhi, the Chief Minister also addressed the Moinabad farmhouse drugs case, clarifying that the State Government has no involvement in the matter. Revanth Reddy emphasized that to ensure a fair, transparent, and time bound investigation, the government has constituted a Special Investigation Team. He reiterated that there has been no political interference in the case and affirmed his government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law in sensitive matters.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Congress party remains prepared for future electoral challenges while continuing to focus on transparency, governance, and public welfare.
Earlier in the day, Revanth Reddy met senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in Parliament. Accompanied by TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, he discussed key political developments and party matters. He also introduced newly elected Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy to the Congress leadership.
