A retired school teacher from the city became the victim of an online scam after listing her furniture for sale on an e-commerce platform, losing Rs 90,000 to cybercriminals. The complainant, who resides in Sadguru Nagar, LB Nagar, had recently posted an advertisement to sell her furniture. According to police, a man contacted her via WhatsApp from the number 9829718568, showing interest in buying the items.

To gain her trust, the fraudster first transferred Re 1 to her bank account and then sent a QR code, asking her to return the same amount. When she scanned it and made the payment, Rs 90,000 was fraudulently debited from her account. Following her complaint, LB Nagar police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
