Rythu Vedika falls into disrepair in Kesamudram

The Rythu Vedika in Kesamudram, established to host agriculture-related meetings and welfare programmes for farmers, has fallen into disrepair due to the lack of proper maintenance, even as it continues to be widely used by various government departments.

Situated on the Mandal Parishad premises, the facility has become the preferred venue for official meetings, training sessions, awareness programmes and public events organised by several government departments, including those unrelated to agriculture. While the hall is used extensively, officials have allegedly failed to take responsibility for its upkeep.

The auditorium has become dusty and poorly maintained, while the surrounding premises are overgrown with weeds, giving the facility an unkempt appearance. The toilets and urinals are reportedly unusable due to poor maintenance and the absence of regular water supply, causing inconvenience to those attending official programmes.

Officials said no dedicated funds have been allocated for the maintenance of the Rythu Vedika. Routine cleaning is not being carried out, electricity bills remain unpaid, and Agriculture Department officials, along with Assistant Extension Officers (AEOs), are reportedly spending their own money to keep the office premises clean.

Farmers and local residents pointed out that government departments regularly use the hall instead of spending money on private venues but do not contribute towards its maintenance. They believe the facility could be kept in good condition if every department using it allocated a small amount for its upkeep.

Residents have urged the authorities to restore water supply, repair the toilets, clear the overgrown premises and establish a coordinated maintenance mechanism involving all government departments. They said timely action would help restore the Rythu Vedika to its intended purpose as a clean and functional space for the farming community.
