The Telangana School Education Department has postponed the reopening of schools for the 2026-27 academic year from June 12 to June 15. The revised schedule applies to all government and private schools across the state.
According to orders issued by the Director of School Education, the decision was taken after the government received representations from various stakeholders seeking a reconsideration of the reopening date. Since June 13 and June 14 fall on the second Saturday and Sunday, authorities decided to resume classes from Monday, June 15. Officials said the change was made to accommodate the concerns raised while ensuring that the academic calendar remains on track. To make up for the instructional time lost due to the postponement, July 11, 2026, which is the second Saturday of the month, has been declared a regular working day for all schools.
The department has instructed Regional Joint Directors, District Educational Officers, residential school societies, welfare institutions and model schools to inform all schools under their jurisdiction and ensure implementation of the revised schedule.
