Speaking at the people's movement organized at Indira Park's Dharna Chowk for Telangana cricket rights, Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) General Secretary Guruva Reddy stated that the TG-20 league proposed by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) lacks legal validity. He pointed out that according to Rule 28, the responsibility of electing the Governing Council must lie with the HCA General Body through an election and under Rule 30, the HCA Governing Council must obtain written permission from the BCCI. Without following any of these rules, a self-proclaimed Governing Council is deceiving the public by claiming they have BCCI permission when they do not, he mentioned.
As a consequence of this, under Rule 31, the recognition of the HCA can be revoked and participating players, officials, and organizations can face bans. Guruva Reddy remarked that Telangana does not need Andhra migrants like Chamundeswaranath, Baswaraj, Ambati Rayudu, Tilak Varma, Siraj and Bharani Kumar to clean up Telangana cricket. He further alleged that all members of the Governing Council, including Agam Rao, are criminals who are selling out Telangana districts in the name of cricket, which will not be tolerated. He pointed out that the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is limited only to Hyderabad, forcing talented players from districts and rural areas to depend on Hyderabad for opportunities.
Guruva Reddy urged the government, investigative agencies, and concerned authorities to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the management of the TG20 league, its permissions, HCA administration, club memberships, financial transactions, pending complaints, and corruption allegations. Former MLA and TCA Co-Chairman Yendala Laxminarayana urged the government and relevant cricket administrative bodies to ensure equal opportunities and transparent selections for district cricketers in Telangana.
TCA Vice President Dr. Vijaya Chander Reddy expressed concern that the future of thousands of young cricketers in Telangana is in jeopardy, and despite having talent, they are denied opportunities. Former Sports Authority Chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy expressed regret that even after the formation of Telangana state, district cricketers are not getting adequate representation. A large number of cricketers and leaders participated in this protest
