SCR women clinch All India Basketball title

The South Central Railway (SCR) Women’s Basketball Team emerged champions at the All India Basketball Tournament held in Coimbatore from May 27 to 31, 2026. SCR delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament, registering victories against Central Railway, ICF, South Western Railway (SWR), and Kerala Police before reaching the final. In a thrilling title clash, SCR defeated Kerala Electricity Board to lift the championship trophy. The final ended in a 49-49 tie at the end of regulation time, forcing an extra five-minute playoff. SCR held their nerve in the decisive period to secure the title.

Adding to the team’s success, Harshitha Bopaiah was named the tournament’s Most Promising Player in recognition of her outstanding performances during the competition. The victory highlights SCR’s growing strength in women’s basketball at the national level.
