Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu on Friday said massive security arrangements are underway for 18th Edition TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) matches to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal.

Briefing the media on the security arrangements at Uppal Stadium, Rachakonda CP G Sudheer Babu said for safety and security of players and spectators, elaborate bandobast arrangements are being made in coordination with different wings, like security wing, traffic-300, law and order (1218), TSSP/AR force 12 platoons, Octopus 2 teams, Mounted Police-10, Vajra-10, and other wings likes SB, CCS staff, SOT, and 4 fire tenders with firefighting squad. Total of about 2700 Police persons are deployed for bandobust.

Around 450 surveillance cameras were being installed in and outside the stadium including at checkpoints and parking areas. A Joint Command and Control Room is set up to monitor the surveillance cameras, the commissioner said, adding that anti-sabotage teams would be on the ground until the match is over.

An effective communication system would be maintained with Very High Frequency sets provided to the personnel and scanners are installed for easy detection of explosives and other prohibited material, said CP. He said that check-posts are being set up at all entry points for anti-sabotage checks and frisking.  Special teams would be deployed at each gate to check mobile phones of spectators, he added.

Separate teams are being deployed for checking the movements of antisocial elements, four persons of mobile technicians were deployed at each gate for checking of spectators’ mobile phones and additional bandobast arrangements made in and around the stadium round the clock with octopus and NGS teams, said Commissioner. A separate SHE teams and anti-eve-teasing team has been established in order to control the eve teasing.
