Senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu, currently in judicial remand in connection with the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) irregularities case, was once again hospitalised on Saturday after experiencing fluctuations in blood pressure. Jail authorities at Vijayawada prison rushed him to a government hospital following signs of health deterioration, reportedly linked to age-related ailments and recurring hypertension issues.
According to prison officials, Anjaneyulu, who has been facing frequent blood pressure problems in recent weeks, had undergone medical examinations at the government hospital just a week ago. His condition relapsed Saturday morning, prompting immediate medical attention. Doctors are currently treating him under close observation, and sources indicate he may be shifted back to the district jail later this evening, depending on his condition.
Anjaneyulu was initially arrested in a separate high-profile case involving allegations that he had unlawfully detained Mumbai-based actress Kadambari Jathwani and registered a case against her. While in judicial custody over that matter, further accusations emerged tying him to serious procedural violations during the APPSC exam evaluation process. Investigators allege he colluded with private individuals in breach of official norms, leading to corruption and malpractice in the commission’s operations.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police also arrested Dhatri Madhu, believed to be an associate in the APPSC case. Both were taken into custody and interrogated extensively. Although Anjaneyulu was granted bail two days ago by the High Court in the Kadambari Jathwani case, he remains in remand due to his involvement in the APPSC scandal.
Meanwhile, former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who is in remand for his alleged involvement in the fake house patta (land title) scam, has also been shifted to a private hospital due to health issues. Acting on his request, a local court permitted medical treatment, and police subsequently transferred him to a hospital in Vijayawada. He is expected to remain under medical supervision for the next few days before being returned to the district jail.
