Singareni’s first Odisha coal rake arrives at STPP

A landmark chapter has been added to the history of Singareni and Telangana’s energy sector with the arrival of the first coal rake from Singareni’s Naini Coal Mine in Odisha at the Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) in Jaipur, Mancherial district, on Thursday.

Carrying nearly 4,000 tonnes of high-quality G-10 grade coal in 59 BOXN wagons, the rake travelled 1,131 km from Odisha to Telangana. It marks the first-ever transportation of coal from an SCCL-owned mine located outside Telangana to the State.

The arrival of the inaugural rake at STPP created a festive atmosphere and was described as a significant milestone in strengthening Telangana’s long-term energy security and ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply for its power sector.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who is currently on an official visit to the United States, congratulated the SCCL management, officers and employees through a video message.

He described the arrival of the first Naini coal rake as a historic occasion in the history of Singareni and assured that the State government would continue to extend full support for the expansion and strengthening of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).

Bhatti Vikramarka said SCCL had already secured the Tadicherla-2 coal block and recently acquired the Manuguru Dip-side Block through auction. He expressed confidence that the company would secure more coal blocks in the future.

SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti thanked the governments of Telangana and Odisha, Indian Railways, and all officers and employees whose efforts contributed to the successful transportation of the first coal rake from Odisha to Telangana.
