The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has dismissed reports in certain sections of the media alleging that Singareni coal has been stolen or gone missing, stating that the claims are completely baseless.

In a clarification issued on Sunday, the company said coal production, storage, transportation and sales are carried out under a highly transparent and technology-driven monitoring system. According to SCCL, every tonne of coal is tracked from the point of production until it reaches the consumer.

Senior officials said nearly 85 per cent of coal is transported through railways, while the remaining 15 per cent is supplied by road. Coal allocations are processed through an integrated SAP-based system, where details such as consumer information, source mine, quantity and dispatch schedules are digitally recorded and monitored.

The company explained that all road transport vehicles are weighed using electronic weighbridges and tracked through RFID-enabled boom barriers, GPS/GPRS systems and geo-fencing technology. Any deviation from approved routes is immediately detected and flagged by the monitoring system.

Officials further stated that railway wagon loading and dispatch operations are also digitally recorded. Continuous surveillance is maintained through CCTV cameras, RFID systems, security personnel, flying squads and regular inspections at mines, coal handling plants, weighbridges, railway sidings and stockyards.

SCCL management said its multi-layered security framework, supported by advanced technologies and round-the-clock monitoring, ensures complete accountability in coal transportation. It reiterated that allegations of coal theft or missing coal are far removed from facts and have no basis.
