Interacting closely with students, the Union Finance Minister quizzed them on their studies and encouraged teachers to ensure regular attendance and effective use of digital classrooms
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday underlined that education remains the only true pathway to development and global recognition, and called upon students to focus equally on academics and sports to bring lasting prestige to the country.
The Finance Minister inaugurated infrastructure facilities worth Rs 18 lakh, including computer systems, science laboratories and allied educational amenities, at the Zilla Parishad High School in Pedamainavanilanka village of Narasapuram mandal. The facilities were provided with the support of Union Bank of India as part of its social responsibility initiatives and were formally dedicated to students.
Addressing students, teachers and parents, Sitharaman said both the Union and State governments are committed to ensuring that every child pursues higher education and reaches the highest levels of achievement. “In today’s world, education alone opens doors to opportunity. Along with sports, it is the strongest means for India to earn global respect and recognition,” she said.
Interacting closely with students, the Union Finance Minister quizzed them on their studies and encouraged teachers to ensure regular attendance and effective use of digital classrooms. She noted that technology-enabled learning allows students to understand global developments and aspire to international standards of education. Emphasising youth empowerment in coastal regions, she assured that the Centre stands ready to extend all support while urging students to remain focused on their studies.
She further observed that while governments would take care of development and welfare, the responsibility of shaping the nation’s future rests with the youth. “Young minds must move forward with confidence, discipline and positive thinking,” she said.
The programme was attended by Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, BJP State President P. V. N. Madhav, West Godavari District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani, and several MLAs, senior officials, bank representatives, educators and local public representatives.
