Authorities have proposed the construction of a skywalk along the busy Raidurgam–T-Hub stretch in Cyberabad to enhance pedestrian safety, improve walkability, and ease chronic traffic congestion in one of Hyderabad’s most densely used IT corridors.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh, IPS, along with senior police and traffic officials, conducted a field inspection of the proposed alignment on Wednesday. The inspection covered the stretch from Raidurgam Metro Station, via the IKEA flyover and IOCL junction, up to T-Hub, a zone that witnesses heavy pedestrian and vehicular movement throughout the day.
During the visit, officials identified high-risk pedestrian zones and major traffic bottlenecks, while discussing sustainable infrastructure solutions such as skywalks and pedestrian tunnels. The proposed project aims to create a safe, continuous, and accessible pedestrian network for commuters travelling to Metro stations, IT offices, and commercial establishments. Officials noted that unsafe road crossings and congestion are recurring issues along the corridor, and the skywalk is expected to significantly reduce pedestrian-vehicle conflict. The project is estimated to bring down traffic congestion on the stretch by nearly 30 per cent.
The proposal is being developed with support from the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) in collaboration with private stakeholders. Phase I of the project includes a 500-metre-long skywalk, while plans are also in place for a 400-metre underpass connecting T-Hub to Mindspace C-Gate to strengthen last-mile connectivity. The detailed proposals will be submitted to the State government through the Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA) and the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). Further extensions to nearby office clusters are also under consideration.
A convergence meeting involving industry representatives and senior officials from civic and government departments is expected soon to finalise the plans. The project is proposed to be implemented through a Public–Private Partnership model under the aegis of SCSC, with periodic review meetings involving GHMC, TGIIC, and IALA.
The inspection was attended by Kukatpally DCP Ritiraj, IPS; Serilingampally Traffic DCP Ranjan Ratan Kumar; Madhapur Traffic DCP Sai Kumar; Traffic ADCP Hanumantha Rao; Madhapur Traffic ACP Chandrasekhar Reddy; Madhapur Traffic Inspector Sridhar Kumar; Raidurgam Traffic Inspector Pawan; SCSC CEO Naved Khan; and corporate representatives including Raheja Mindspace COO Shrawan Gone, Sattva’s Peeyush Aggarwal, Divyasree’s Anurag, and Phoenix Group’s Srikanth Badiga.
