In a compassionate gesture honoring the sacrifice of Excise Constable Gajula Soumya, who lost her life in the line of duty, Nizamabad District Collector Illa Tripathi presented a government job appointment letter to her brother, Gajula Shravan, on Monday. The event took place in the Collector's chamber, marking the swift fulfillment of the state government's commitment to support the bereaved family.

Soumya, a dedicated officer in the Excise Department, was critically injured on January 23 during a raid on ganja smugglers. The assailants rammed their vehicle into her, leading to severe injuries. Despite battling for nine days in medical care, she succumbed on January 31. Her funeral was conducted with full state honors.

During a recent visit to Nizamabad, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally handed over an ex-gratia payment of Rs 1 crore to Soumya's family. He also assured that one family member would receive a government job. True to this promise, Shravan has been appointed as a Junior Assistant in the Excise Department, with the appointment formalized within a month of the tragic incident.

Collector Tripathi, while presenting the letter, emphasized the government's unwavering support: "As per the government's promise, within a month of the incident, the family has been given Rs 1 crore ex-gratia, and a government job has been provided to Soumya's brother Shravan. The government machinery will continue to support the affected family in the future as well. We will ensure that those responsible for Soumya's death receive severe punishment."
