SMFG India Credit (SMIC), a leading non-banking financial company, has introduced a paid menstrual leave policy for all its women employees across India, effective December 2.

The company said the move aligns with the growing adoption of menstrual leave in some states, but SMIC has taken a proactive step by extending the benefit nationwide. Under the new policy, women employees are eligible for one paid menstrual leave every month, in addition to all existing leave categories. The leave will be auto-approved, eliminating the need for managerial permissions or medical certificates, though it must be used within the same month.

Ravi Narayanan, Managing Director and CEO of SMFG India Credit, said the initiative strengthens the organisation’s commitment to inclusion and the overall well-being of women in the workforce. SMFG India Credit is registered with the Reserve Bank of India as an NBFC+ Investment and Credit Company and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group.
