Telangana Congress senior leader and Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu is trying to step in as the Congress party is troubled with internal party matters. In an informal interaction with media in the Assembly premises, he addressed the ongoing issue surrounding senior leader T. Jeevan Reddy.

Sridhar Babu expressed his personal appeal to Jeevan Reddy not to leave the Congress party. "Jeevan Reddy is my senior and I have huge respect for him. I will also try to speak to him," Sridhar Babu said in response to media queries relating to this issue. He dismissed the talk that Jeevan Reddy was not given his due after the Congress government came to power in Telangana. When asked if Jeevan Reddy had sought a Rajya Sabha berth and was not given priority, Sridhar Babu said Jeevan Reddy never asked for any posts in the party.

When told that BRS and even BJP were trying to lure him to join their parties, Sridhar Babu exuded confidence in Jeevan Reddy not leaving Congress itself.

Jeevan Reddy announces decision to Quit

Meanwhile, in a big political development, senior Congress leader and former minister T. Jeevan Reddy has publicly declared his decision to leave the Congress party. Speaking to the media, Reddy stated that he has already resolved to resign and will formally announce his move within the next few days, likely at a public meeting in Jagityal.

Reddy revealed that the majority of his supporters and followers advised him to quit Congress, citing neglect and lack of recognition despite his decades-long service. He expressed disappointment that those who stood by the party during its difficult times were sidelined in recent decisions.

The leader pointed to internal differences with MLA Sanjay Kumar, who joined Congress from BRS and was given prominence in constituency matters, leaving Reddy marginalized.

He also highlighted grievances over the Jagityal municipal elections, where his faction felt unfairly treated in the selection of the chairman post.

Adding weight to speculation, Congress flex boards were recently removed from his residence “Indira Bhavan,” signaling his imminent exit. Reports suggest that Reddy may join BRS on March 25, a move that analysts believe could strengthen the party in North Telangana while delivering a major blow to Congress.

With over 40 years of association with Congress, Reddy’s departure is expected to demoralize grassroots workers and reshape the political landscape in the region.
