Cong coordination committee faces hiccups

In Congress-ruled states, appointing a coordination committee of senior leaders to .communication between the government and party is a long-standing practice, followed even during united Andhra Pradesh.

In Telangana, however, nearly two and a half years after coming to power, the AICC has finally constituted such a committee, sparking debate. Party insiders suggest the move comes amid concerns over a lack of coordination between the government and party.

Sources say some government decisions have turned controversial, with criticism that key choices are being made without consulting senior leaders. The central leadership has also reportedly observed that welfare and development programs are not effectively reaching grassroots levels.

Concerns have been raised about district Congress committee presidents, with some failing to actively engage with the public. This is partly attributed to neglect of long-time party workers. Reports also noted absenteeism in DCC training programs.

Past issues, including disputes over land and delays in filling nominated posts, have added to dissatisfaction.

The new committee includes Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, key ministers, and AICC representatives. While welcomed, its delayed formation has revived discussions about gaps between the party and government.
