Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited reported a strong rise in claims settlements in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during FY26, reflecting growing demand for health insurance and improved service reach. The company settled claims worth Rs 1,254 crore covering 1.8 lakh claims, compared to Rs 1,014 crore and 1.6 lakh claims in FY25, registering a 24 percent year-on-year increase in payout and a 13 percent rise in claim volume.
Since inception, the company has settled claims worth over Rs 6,064 crore covering more than 9.6 lakh claims across both states. Business performance also improved, with Gross Written Premium rising from Rs 1,928 crore in FY25 to Rs 2,268 crore in FY26, a 17 percent increase. The number of policies grew from 8.8 lakh to 9.4 lakh, marking a 7 percent rise.
The insurer has strengthened its presence in the region with a network of over 1,800 hospitals, more than 75 branches, 89,000 advisors, 1,800 employees and 230 Star Gramin Bima Kendras. This is supported by a nationwide network of over 15,000 hospitals, with 75 percent of claims now processed through its digital platform.
Speaking in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Managing Director and CEO Anand Roy said the 24 percent surge in claims payout reflects growing trust among customers. He stated that settling Rs 1,254 crore across 1.8 lakh claims highlights the company’s focus on faster, transparent and customer-centric claims services, adding that health insurance is becoming increasingly important for financial security and long-term wellbeing.
At the national level, the company settled claims worth Rs 11,903 crore covering 30.6 lakh claims in FY26, compared to Rs 10,353 crore and 24.4 lakh claims in FY25. Since inception, it has settled over Rs 67,800 crore covering more than 1.5 crore claims, supported by a 92 percent retail claims settlement ratio, 84 percent cashless settlements and 92 percent of cashless claims processed within three hours.
The company also expanded its healthcare services during the year. Preventive health check-ups rose 42 percent to 5.48 lakh, telemedicine consultations reached 1.17 lakh, and home healthcare services increased fivefold to 92,000 across more than 300 cities. Under its CSR initiative Arogya Seva Kendra, 32 clinics across nine states recorded 48,567 visits, conducted 45,017 medical tests and delivered 5,725 health education sessions, with a target to reach over one million people.
