The two-day Indian Classical Music Festival, Swar-Milan, organized by Hyderabad-based Surmandal, concluded on Sunday at Ravindra Bharathi, Lakdi-ka-Pul. The festival, which began Saturday evening, has brought together music lovers from across the city to celebrate India’s classical music heritage. The opening day featured a soul-stirring santoor recital by Rahul Sharma, accompanied on tabla by acclaimed maestro Ojas Adhiya. Over 600 attendees were mesmerized by the intricate melodies and rhythmic interplay, making it a memorable start to the festival.
The final day featured renowned flute virtuoso Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia, accompanied by celebrated tabla artist Satyajit Talwalkar. This performance pays tribute to the legendary musical partnership of Pandits Shiv Kumar Sharma and Hariprasad Chaurasia, evoking their timeless artistry and musical brilliance.
The festival is dedicated to Mohan Hemmadi, a lifelong patron and promoter of Indian classical music, whose birth anniversary coincides with the opening day. Swar-Milan is supported by the Telangana Government’s Department of Language and Culture, with sponsorship from Canara Bank, Entod Chemicals, and VRVS Pharmaceuticals. The event aims to preserve and promote the grace and beauty of India’s classical music traditions.
