The Commissioner’s Task Force Teams with the help of Station House Officer (SHOs) of concerned Police Stations conducted a Special Drive over the banned Chinese Manja in Hyderabad City on Friday and a total 987 bobbins were seized across the city in a special drive.
Hyderabad City Commissioner’s Task Force Additional Commissioner of Police Ande Srinivasa Rao said Chinese Manja is extremely sharp, causing severe injuries and even fatalities, particularly to pedestrians, motorcyclists, and kite enthusiasts. It has been responsible for numerous cases of cuts and accidents, especially during festive seasons.
The sharp string often entangles birds, leading to injuries, amputations, and death. Animals, particularly street animals, are also at risk of being injured by discarded Manja, ACP said.
Citizens are encouraged to report any instances of Chinese Manja sales or usage to the concerned authorities, said Police.
